8 Non-Food Products That Can Heal Your Body Naturally

I can’t emphasize it enough that healing from the inside out starts in the kitchen. Nutrition helps to culture good bacteria in your gut which feeds your brain and keeps your body strong and healthy.

In addition to this, healing from the inside out takes more than just changing your nutrition habits. Whatever you put on your skin is absorbed in your body and can play a role in your overall health.

I want to share with you my personal journey with choosing more all natural (non-food) products and why, plus I’ll also share with you 8 products that can heal your body naturally (my personal review).

It all started about 10 years ago when my whole body broke out in a rash. It was more specific to my back and stomach, but small red dots appeared on my arms, hands, legs and feet as well. I couldn’t figure it out. I went to a couple of different doctors and they always prescribed me medications, like Benadryl, to decrease the inflammation and help stop the itching. Like most medication this only put a band-aid on the problem. Once the medication wore off the symptoms came back.

You can imagine my frustration! I had a roommate at the time who told me that I might be allergic to my laundry detergent. My laundry detergent? The same laundry detergent I have been using since I was born??? But at this point I was desperate. So I bought some “free and clear” laundry detergent and washed everything! My clothes, my sheets, my pillow cases, bathroom towels…etc.

Can you guess what happened?

Low and behold –  my rash went away within a couple of days.

This immediately got me thinking: What else could I be irritating my body with? For me it wasn’t easy making the transition to 100% all natural products. For one, sometimes the price is higher and two I didn’t always like the way some of the products felt on my skin or hair or what the product would smell like.

Over the years I have tried many all natural products. The products that I have officially transitioned to all natural ingredients include the following:

  • Laundry Detergent
  • Hand Soap
  • Body Wash
  • Face Wash
  • Lotion
  • Deodorant
  • Household Cleaning products

I’ll share each product that made my #1 list and why I love each product. I’m sharing products that have worked for me and my body. These opinions are of my very own and I am not sponsored by any of these products. I never had any guidance when I was searching for “cleaner” products on the market so my hope is to share my experience and knowledge to help guide you in a better direction.

Each product will have the link attached for your convenience. Please shop around and find the product that works best for you.

Disclosure: Some of the links are affiliated links which means I may receive compensation if you decide to purchase, but at NO additional cost to you. The money goes into helping my website stay alive.  I test each product thoroughly and give high marks to only the very best. I never want to steer you in the wrong direction. Laundry Detergent

Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry Soda:
Hands down this is one of my favorite products.  It’s organic, hypoallergenic, non-toxic, biodegradable, and contains no harsh chemicals.

I came across this product at our local county fair. I love the ingredients and my body appreciates the non-toxic chemicals. I will never go back to commercialized laundry detergent.

Dryer Balls

Nellie’s All Natural Lamby Dryer Balls

I have actually tried three different dryer balls and these ones just seem to work best for me and my dryer. I also like to add a couple of drops of my favorite essential oil to add a little scent to my clothes without chemicals.

Hand Soap

Meyer’s Clean Day Hand Soap

The honeysuckle smell is one of my favorites, along with Basil and Geranium. This product have been around for a long time and while I’ve tried other natural hand soaps this one is just one of my favs.

It has plant-derived ingredients and is Phthalate, paraben, DEA and sulfate free. That’s esactly what I’m looking for in any product that is going to come into contact with my skin.

Body Wash

Jason Pure Natural Body Wash

Jason is a very concentrated product so you don’t need to use a lot of soap. The price is a little bit higher than you would expect to pay for body wash, but this container lasts for 2-3 months depending on the amount of pumps you use. I use two 🙂

All organic ingredients. No harsh chemicals. No animal testing. No parabens, sodium lauryl/laurate sulfates, petrolatum, artificial colors or phthalates.

Rosewater and Lavender are my two favorite smells!

Face Wash

Neutrogena Naturals Acne Cream Cleanser

This gentle cleanser from Neutrogena is a great choice for those with acne-prone skin – like ME. It’s also budget friendly. It contains a natural derivative of salicylic acid found in Willow Bark, which acts as an anti-irritant and may help to prevent acne-causing inflammation.

This product uses at least 90% natural ingredients, which can leave room for improvement, but for now it works best for me and does not irritate my skin.

This doesn’t leave my skin overly dry like other medicated face washes used to do. My acne is under control and my skin is soft and smooth after 2 weeks of using this.

Alba Botanica Very Emollient Body Lotion
This container seriously lasts For-Ev-Er!!! Because of it’s thick concentration you literally need a quarter size for your entire body.

  • Creamy, hypo-allergenic lotion packed with rich botanical emollients such as aloe vera, green tea and chamomile
  • 100% vegetarian ingredients
  • No animal testing
  • NO: parabens, phthalates, or synthetic fragrances

You can also buy this at Sprouts and CVS. There are different smells that you can choose from. I’m happy with an original smell since I work with a lot of patients and I don’t want to offend anyone. I have tried the coconut smell and it’s also nice – not too powerful.

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant

Looooveee this natural deodorant. I was a little skeptical to try an all natural deodorant at first. I sweat a lot and work out often so I have used my antiperspirant deodorant like a warm blankie! I never wanted to let go of it and it sticks to my armpits when I need it most. However, have you ever read about what aluminum and other irritating ingredients in deodorants can do to your body? Read this article and you’ll change your mind about your favorite deodorant.

I have never tried any other smell aside from the lavender+sage, but I don’t think I want to. It smells so good and never seems to wear off. I also like this product among other all natural products because it comes in an easy stick-applicator. Most other natural deodorants usually come in a paste form that you have to wipe on yourself. That just doesn’t work for me. It’s a personal preference I guess.

Household Cleaning Products

Seventh Generation All Purpose Household Cleaner
and Dish-washing Powder (not pictured)

To be honest I usually make my own cleaning products using three parts water to one part vinegar and I usually add some lemon essential oil.

However, I’m human and sometimes I’m not prepared. Either I forgot to buy vinegar or I run out of essential oils so I always have Seventh Generation all purpose cleaner under my kitchen sink.

Seventh Generation Free & Clear Natural All Purpose Cleaner effectively cleans and degreases inside and outside of the home.
Unlike many conventional cleaning products, Seventh Generation’s does not leave harmful residue or create unpleasant fumes. They’re also safer for the environment. It does what I need it to do and I feel good about not having toxic fumes all over my house.
